Hey there! I'm Ron, and I make videos about woodworking and laser crafts! I love to make whatever ideas pop into my head. Especially so if it means I can involve my laser cutter, as I love to find ways to use it in creative ways other than just engraving. I then share my projects and creative process here on my channel. Join me by subscribing if that sounds like something you'd enjoy!

Maybe I misunderstood what your mistake was with the gap between wall & upper boxes, but that is to be expected. If the base cabinet is level and the upper box is square, then there will almost always be a gap to shim & hide at the wall as walls are rarely perfectly plumb. Typically fixed by scribing an end panel to the wall to hide the gap.
Co2 or diode laser?
Such a lovely little project, will be trying something like this for sure in a few days time when my laser gets in.
Cool technique and a beautifully crafted sign 👍
so satisfying to watch..
Rubbish
Do you have any other way !!!
you did a good job BUT it does not look like the same quality as a Hermes not even close but from someone who does not care or from far away it looks similar ,someone who can afford these can tell the difference but to those who are not a customer of Hermes or even want too be I can see being fine with it and not understanding why anyone would pay more when this looks the same but doesn't
Very nice. I am looking for a template for a bandsaw duck in boots but no luck. I can't draw for all the tea in China. I may have to try the rabbit!
Awesome🎉
Great video. .thank you. I just bought a used system and am getting ready to install it. I sent you a request for the PDF files! thanks for doing that! it will help immensely. I subbed and rang the bell!

Just found your channel and it’s great! Why’d you quit UA-cam? It’s been six months since you’ve posted!!!
Hey there! Thanks for the kind words! I didn't quit UA-cam, just been going through stuff in my personal life over the past number of months and hoping to get back into the video-posting game soon. 😊 Cheers!
Tape because of the laser?
This looks great. I built an Ana White miter station several years ago. Last June I disassembled it and my husband repurposed it in his garage. I had intentions of building a new one right away. But during that week I hurt my back. Other projects got in the way and I’m just getting started on building my new miter station. It really has sucked not having a home for things. This past weekend I built a rather large drill charging station/tool holder. It really has me motivated to get my build going. Thanks for the motivation.
On the subject of DPI, the larger the dot size the lower your DPI should be. If you run the DPI higher than the dot size allows you get each line burning slightly over the last, basically destroying the detail in the picture. Print samples in increasingly higher DPI staring from 100dpi with increment of say 50 dpi. Get a USB microscope if you can and then check at which dpi the lines only just touch. Do the test for each of your lenses. Your 2" lens will probably give you more detail at a lower DPI. On a personal note, it's a pleasure looking at closeups of your hands. On so many youtubers and especially laser videos, people haven't cut their nails in months, not to mention the dirt under those nails.
put the T nuts on inside of boards so ytou are pullimg them tightewr instead of pulling them out..
I hope you are still monitoring these posts: I have followed you 'til about 8:28 minutes in when you are at ./cam2ip to see if it is activated and running, and I get an error. The error is "john@Laserpi:~/Desktop $ ./cam2ip camera: inappropriate ioctl for device. I would very much appreciate your help.
How do you get the diffuser to stay in place?
I used some hot glue in a few of the corners - I didn't want to do anything too permanent in case I changed my mind. 😊
Hello again! I rent and can’t cut holes into the house. Can this be run out of a window or a garage door like the Glowforge can?
You could totally create a panel that slides into the window with an exhaust port, just like people do with the Glowforge, but you'll still need to have a fan "pushing" the air to the outside. Hope that helps!
Could you use this device to plug the ethernet cable of the laser machine in there too? I saw an ethernet connection on the device. 😂
The ethernet connection comes in handy if you want to control the laser via ethernet instead of USB, but in that case you'd be plugging it directly into the computer with Lightburn on it, OR, more ideally, to a "network switch" whereby you can find its local IP address and control your laser wirelessly from your laptop or such. I might do a video on that topic at some point. 🤓
Thanks. I’m making a few of them today for friends. I don’t have a laser but enjoy cutting by hand. I’m also putting brand new air tags in them when I gift them. Holiday sale had them 80$ for 4. So my total cost for all 4 will be about 120$. I have yet to find a good design for the Samsung tags.
This such a great video. Thank you for creating it.
Its interesting to see 'a laser guy' exploring woodworking tools. Go!
Haha, thanks! Funnily enough I consider myself both a woodworking guy and a laser guy, but they often have to compete for my attention. 😅
Hey dude you're rocks appreciate u
looks great!
this marking compound does not peel off in time?
Great video! I have a similar setup to you and am planning on getting oneida to create a ducting plan for me as well. This was super helpful! Thank you!
what is the brand and model of your laser? Is there any lasers you recommend that can engrave 5" wood?
Thanks for the video! Is it possible to etch with the HR lens, switch to the 4" if you're using thick wood? I don't know if the thunder would re-align precisely after the lens change
"molly denum" haha :p
can you send me a link to the template. thanks for sharing.
I would use the step bit to drill the hole instead of the hole saw. And/or get a reamer to clean up those holes.
Hi Thanks for the tests and info. For the poplar cuts was that hardwoord or plywood? Would that make a differende on the depth of cut?
Both
Same! Love both options!
Would Black spray paint work?
I haven't tried on metal, but I'm pretty sure the paint would just get "burnt" off in the area of etching. That said, if you wanted to entirely coat a piece of metal in spray paint and "etch away" the paint to reveal metal, that would work! But not for etching a "positive." Hope that helps!
Thanks Can't wait to give it a shot.
Please do! Feel free to share a pic when done! ❤️
Awesome
Thank you!! 😊
Pure class
Thank you! Glad you like it! 😊
There is a lot of hand work. What would those be sold at?
Haha I have no idea, as I made it for fun! Not something I'd try to sell with how much work it is - it would be hard to convince someone to pay for 5-10 hours of work at even a modest hourly rate once margin is added in. 😅 That's why I'm selling the template instead, for people to make it themselves! 😊 Cheers!
Sweet project!
Thanks! Hope you make one too! 😊
I like it thanks for posting did you remedy the carriage bolt leveling technique ?
Thanks! No, I just ended up using those screws to hold the T-nut in place (keep it from falling out) until the cabinet was upside down 🙃 pushing it up and holding it in place. Cheers!
I like your video. Great explanation on how you completed it. I downloaded the pattern and I will carve it out.
Excellent! Good luck, I'd love to see it when you're done if you want to share! 😊
Thank you very much. I will definitely be using this technique
Great to hear, James! Cheers!
Some motor oils even have molybdenum disulfide in them. It is a friction reducer and is similar to graphite in appearance when in dry form. One brand of oil known for having it is Liqui Moly which is made in Germany
Great job!!! What type of paint did you use?
Hey thanks John! Just regular black, outdoor acrylic paint! I think it was satin finish but flat would work too.
😊
❤️
Brilliant, but you lost me when you were figuring out on the computer how to do it, but that's my age. Love what you did, I am going to give it a go. Thanks x
He was just sharing his process of figuring out the pattern he would eventually use. He’s taken out the guesswork for anyone wanting to make these and is sharing it for free on his website. I’ve downloaded the template and have made dozens since the weekend. They’re great and the family loves them.
@@jprz3837 Hi, yes l do appreciate this, l just ment that at 73 l am not that computer savvy. l am giving it a go tomorrow. x
@jprz3837 So glad you like the template and are getting such good use out of it!! 😊 Cheers!
@lucyanneanne5411 Haha as that part of the video showed I barely knew what I was doing myself! I took a lot of "wrong turns" on my journey to get the computer to simulate the bandsaw cuts. Hope you enjoy the template and giving it a go! 😊
can i do this plus lightburn bridge on the same raspberry pi to have both wireless?
@williamhilton4262 Here's another video I made about my homemade jig that might help ya!
